Limgrave walkthrough

Elden Ring Group Battle Giant

Grab the gist (Minor spoilers)

You will begin your adventure at The First Step. Talk to the NPC there, activate the Shrine of Grace, then head to Elleh’s Church north of your location. A tree sentinel will patrol the road, so sneak around him if you don’t want to fight a boss so soon.

At Elleh Church, you’ll find a peddler who will sell you a crafting kit, an essential item needed to access the Elden Ring crafting system. Take the golden runes just outside the church entrance, break them and buy the kit.

The Blood Wolf Sitting on a Grace Site with Melina in Elden Ring

Continue down the road until you find a massive enemy encampment. Hang on to the left of the camp to find a Shrine of Grace just outside a door. Rest at the shrine to talk to Melina. Accept his request to unlock the ability to level up. She will also give you an item to summon a mount, Torrent. Get on your mount, walk to the stone slab inside the camp to find a map of western Limgrave, then leave. Quickly return to Elleh’s Church (don’t walk there) to spawn Renna the Witch. She’ll give you a bell needed to summon the spirits alongside Lone Wolf Ashes, one of the best early game summons.

Elden Ring Storyteller Renna

If you miss Renna at Elleh Church, you can buy the bell and the spirits she gives you from the NPC Twin Maiden at Roundtable Hold.

Now quickly return to the Gatefront. We recommend clearing the ruins of Gatefront at this point, using your new spirits and your horse to turn the tide. Use stealth to kill enemies patrolling the perimeter, then sneak back to the main road. Backstab the soldier with a horn on the hip to avoid alerting the camp of your presence. Once he’s dead, summon your spirits and clear the camp.

Elden Ring Sharp Blade Location

Once the base is cleared, open the chests in the parked wagons to get new equipment (a great sword and a flail). The center of the base will have a staircase that leads to your first Ashes of War and a Sharpened Blade, allowing you to modify your Weapon Arts and Infusions. Return to the Church of Elleh and buy a torch from the merchant; you will need it for most dungeons in this area. Cracked Pots are also worth buying, as you will need them to craft Fire Pots. All remaining runes must be spent on character levels.

Elden Ring Stormhill Golden Seed Tree

Return to Gatefront, west of the camp. Get on your horse, then run through the door along the left wall as you cross the path. At the end of the narrow passage will be a golden tree with a golden seed. Be sure to take it; this will increase your flask charges by one. Keep following the road until you see a cabin and Grace’s site on your right. Talk to the NPC inside the cabin to get another Spirit Ash.

You now have the essentials to start your journey. If you want to explore at your own pace, we strongly encourage you to do so. However, if you’d rather have tips on where you should go, check out the section below. Whenever you’re ready, follow the golden trail emitted by the Sanctuary of Grace to find the first major boss in this region: Margit, the Fell Omen. Defeat him to unlock the Legacy Dungeon of Stormveil Castle that leads to Godrick.

Prepare (Progress Spoilers)

Final Elden Ring Limgrave Progress Map

Elden Ring Location of Godrick Knight's Ashes

Before continuing, we strongly recommend that you collect Godrick Spirit’s ashes from the graveyard southwest of Stormhill Shack. Head up Torrent and follow the cliff until you reach a graveyard patrolled by passive jellyfish. Make a U-turn right when you reach the area and follow the path to another set of tombstones. One of these tombstones will contain the ashes. These knights are absurdly meaty and remain useful throughout your game.

From there, we recommend clearing the first three dungeons in the game: Coastal Grotto, Groveside Grotto and Stormfoot Catacombs. All of these dungeons are to the west of Elleh’s Church. Stormfoot is quite difficult, so if you’re having trouble clearing that one, you can always come back to it later. These dungeons will give you a good piece of runes, a talisman, and the ability to customize your armor. Use these runes to level your character.

Ring of the Ancients Sellen

Now is a good time to head for the eastern part of Limgrave. Move quickly to Stormgate and follow the road east. After crossing a bridge, head south until you find a small ruin. This ruin houses a miniboss and a wizard NPC who can sell sorceries to Intelligence builds. Faith builds that need new tools should unlock Roundtable Hold at this point to access a Faith merchant.

There is a small trailer just outside the Waypoint Ruins cave. Cleaning the caravan gives a large axe. We recommend taking the caravan if possible, as the number of enemies you kill will grant you a nice amount of runes.

Elden Ring Flask of the Wondrous Physical Path 7

Now you need to follow the road outside the winery to the north. It will turn into a dirt road and eventually lead you to an abandoned church. Ignore the Troll guarding it and head inside to find the Flask of Marvelous Physics and one sacred tear, increasing the amount of HP or FP granted by your flasks. An NPC named Kenneth Haight is at the top of the overpass you just crossed. Talk to him, then clear the fort at the far south of the area. To get a map of the area, keep following the road south until you find an ethereal candlestick. This will take you to a map of that part of the map.

Just south of the map location is a minor Erdtree. They will be an item placed near the base of the tree that will grant the green spill and Cracked crystal tears, items you can mix into your Wondrous Phsyic potion. Keep following the road south to find the fort. Collect the golden seed that lies under a golden tree, then clear the fort. Talk to the NPC who gave you the quest upon completion to get the Erdsteel Dagger.

Minor Erdtrees will be your main source of Crystal Tears in Elden Ring. Keep an eye out for massive trees as you explore.

Elden Ring Tarnished by a Fighting Dragon with Two Blades

At this point, you should be ready to battle the horrors of Lake Limgrave. Head to the north end of the lake to start the Flying Dragon Agheel boss fight. You can kill the dragon or ignore it; It’s yours. Enter the Limgrave Tunnels dungeon he guards to get some much-needed Forge Shards. If you have the runes, quickly return to the Church of Elleh (or the Round Table if you have it unlocked) to upgrade your weapon.

With a more powerful weapon in hand, follow the river to the northeast corner of the lake. You will be overrun halfway down the river, but you can wait for an NPC to appear and assist you. With the invader down, clear the three dungeons along the lake: Murkwater Cave, Murkwater Catacombs and Highroad Cave. Buy cookbooks from street vendors, then spend the rest on levels.

You will find a Spiritspring (a kind of wind trampoline) near the river which will take you to Saintsbridge. Activate the Shrine of Grace, then head west to find the Death-Touched Catacombs dungeon. Clear the dungeon and save your runes. Continue west to find the Warmaster’s Hut. Inside is a vendor that sells useful war ashes early in the game. Warcry and Storm Blade are good options. When you’re ready, head up the cliff to the north of your location. You’ll find an empty stone bowl with the Strength-Knot Crystal Tear, increasing your strength by ten points for three minutes when active.

With all that gear and runes, you should be more than ready to take on Margit and Stormveil Castle. However, if you’re still having trouble or need some new weapons, feel free to head south towards the Weeping Peninsula. This remote area has some pretty weak enemies, quite a few weapons to find, and even more flask upgrades. We will have a guided tour of this area in the future. Veteran Soulsborne players should also try the Tree Sentinel and Crucible Knight bosses.

There is an underground part of Limgrave called the Siofra River Well Depths. You can access it near the Minor Erdtree in eastern Limgrave. We will have a guide for this area in the near future.
