Annual rib sale underway at the Finney County Museum
The Finney County Historical Society’s annual Pre-Labour Day Rib Sale sells hot, ready-to-eat pork ribs or three-tip roast beef, with proceeds supporting exhibits at the Finney County Museum and FCHS programs for the community.
Orders can be placed through Aug. 24, with pickup 5-6:30 p.m. Sept. 1 — the Thursday before Labor Day — at the museum’s Mary Regan Conference Room, 403 S. Fourth Street in Garden City. .
Two fully cooked options are available, including pork rib racks for $32 each; and three-tip roast beef for $40 each. All are prepared by Webb’s Food Crew and BBQ.
Prices are unchanged from last year. The sale is sponsored, as in previous years, by the Garden City Telegram.
Racks of ribs weigh about three pounds each and roasts weigh up to four, although there is some natural variability.
Along with their orders, each customer will receive an informative document about the history of animal production in southwestern Kansas.
Advance payment in cash or check is required and orders can be placed with any FCHS staff or board member, or by visiting the museum.
Hours of operation, via the north entrance, are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Exhibit hours, applicable to the main entrance, are 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
Information is available at 620-272-3664 and orders are subject to backorder, depending on smoker capacity.
